A mobile phone holder for the car is undoubtedly a gadget without which we cannot imagine travelling today. This is especially true if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel or drive for a living. There are even countries where there is a so-called “hands-free” law that prohibits the use of any electronic device while driving unless it is used in hands-free mode. In this article we will take a closer look at the mount – its history, evolution, division by purpose and mounting method, and finally we will introduce the highest evolutionary stage in the form of the MISURA MA04.
Evolution of the mobile phone holder for the car
Users may have encountered the first mobile phone holder for the car as early as the 1990s, with the advent of mobile phones as such at their beginning, more precisely in 1984. We can thank a man named Martin Cooper, an engineer from Motorola, for this invention. The DynaTAC was popularly known as the Brick and cost a whopping $10,000 in today’s money. It was only affordable by financiers and businessmen, who were also the only ones at the time who saw it as a useful tool for their business. But back to the holders, this invaluable gadget has undergone a significant evolution since its launch.
1. Basic holders
The cradle of the phone holder was simple plastic models whose only function was to hold the phone in place. They were attached to the dashboard or windscreen using various adhesive materials, later using suction cups similar to those we know today. Their limitation was that they could not be adjusted, and they could only fit a limited range of phone sizes and shapes.
2. Adjustable holders
Adjustable mounts became the next stage of evolution. Still made of plastic and attached with adhesive materials. The only advance was the ability to accommodate more types of mobile devices thanks to the adjustable width of the holder.
3. Magnetic holders
Magnetic mounts quickly became popular and have remained popular for many to this day. The phone is held in the holder by a magnetic plate that the user sticks to the back of the phone, usually under the cover. Magnetic mounts were no longer limited to mounting only on the dashboard or windshield, but could also be attached to ventilation grilles using adhesive material or clips. The first versions of the magnetic holders generated a strong magnetic field and destroyed the device chips, this shortcoming was corrected later by reducing the magnetic field.
4. Smart holders
Smart mounts allow users to pair their mobile device directly with a voice assistant, making the phone completely hands-free.
5. Mounts for wireless charging
Wireless charging has presented a great opportunity for mobile phone mounts, as it is while driving that users appreciate this feature the most, especially from a safety perspective by eliminating cable manipulation. Another upgrade has been their QC3 (Quick Charge) wireless charging technology, which allows users to fully charge their mobile phone in tens of minutes.
MISURA MA04 – Car phone holder with QC3 charging
MISURA combines the best of safety features, technological advances and quality of workmanship, without forgetting design. The MA04 mobile phone holder is proof of this. The fully automatic MA04 holder features not only automatic phone presence recognition, which makes it very user-friendly and easy to use, and can handle any type and shape of mobile phone with ease, but also its locking options, which leave your hands free to drive the vehicle as much as possible. Automatic phone recognition means the mount simply detects that you’ve inserted your device and locks it in place. But it also has a button for manual locking.

Fully automatic in the case of the MA04 holder also means its wireless charging function. The MA04 holder is equipped with QC3 fast wireless charging with input voltages of 5 V/2 A, 9 V/2 A and 12 V/2 A. It has a power of 15 W, but also supports 10, 7.5 and 5 W. It is compatible with mobile phones of 4.7-6.9 inches. So you can have your mobile phone fully charged in minutes. Like all MISURA products, the MA04 mobile phone holder has all users in mind and includes a built-in and standard USB-C connector for those whose phone does not support wireless charging.
Its other great advantage is its flexibility. You can use the suction cup to mount it on the windscreen, on the dashboard or in the ventilation grille by means of the vent holder with silicone pad and lockable switch. When attaching with a suction cup, you can further adjust its position to best suit your seating style thanks to the universal ball on the arm with an anchor switch. The arm is also extendable, so you can zoom in and out within a few centimetres at will.
The holder is made of aluminum alloy, high-strength non-slip plastic, ABS and silicone. This makes it both lightweight and very durable.
In the package you will find 1x wireless charger, 1x USB-C charging cable, 1x air vent holder and 1x telescopic base with suction cup for glass or dashboard.
The MA04 self-charging phone holder is available in two versions, universal black and elegant silver. This fully automatic holder with wireless Quick Charge 3 (QC3) charging technology is a great choice for maximum safety and convenience on the go.
Holders for rear seat passengers
A lesser-used variant of car mobile phone holders are rear seat holders. Why less used? There simply isn’t as much of a need for them as there is for phone holders, so they aren’t advertised as much either. But their benefits are definitely worth the investment. As well as leaving your hands free, they are ergonomic and save your back.
MISURA offers two variants of the rear seat holder.
1. Tablet and mobile phone holder for the car
This variant is simple, robust and practical. It is very easy to install, as it requires no screwing. Simply attach the holder to the bars of any headrest by opening the spreader bar. The precision design and strong construction of the spreader bar will keep your device securely in place, even in the event of large shocks while driving. The large variability allows you to insert devices ranging in size from 7 to 13 inches. So you can easily accommodate it as a tablet holder or iPhone holder of any generation.
The surfaces that touch the trapped device are rubberized, so you don’t have to worry about the holder scratching your device.
